L'envol
a production from "Monstre(s) - Etienne Saglio"
nouveau magic (no text)
"Tired of picking up the fallen balls, a juggler fitted wings onto them so that they would never fall again..." Etienne Saglio
As the circus has above all been defined as a series of numbers, Etienne Saglio began by working on a circus number entitled "Flying", the first version of which was presented in the ring of the National Circus Arts Centre on September 13, 14 and 15, 2007.
The image conveyed by magic, modelling and juggling techniques is that of a juggler surrounded by ten or so balls, each with a pair of wings enabling them to fly around the ring. Etienne Saglio uses the traditional codes of a juggling and taming number – all the better to subvert them: 8 minutes of circularity, dramatic simplicity and technical complexity.
